As a company dedicated to sustainable territorial development, SCE is deeply committed to its Corporate Social Responsibility policy. CSR is an integral part of our DNA and strategy, and has led us to focus on four key commitments:
Deployment of a low-carbon strategy: 50% less greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 To meet this ambitious objective, SCE has joined the ACT (Assessing Low Carbon Transition) programme. This scheme promoted by the French Agency for Environment and Energy (ADEME) also focuses on mobility and reducing the impact of work-related travel. Protection of resources Through our environmental projects – nearly half of our teams are involved on a daily basis in assignments related to developing and preserving regions and their plant and animal life, or the regeneration of natural environments – and our work in connection with the circular economy and waste management (within the company and on site), we are taking action to protect resources.
Contributing to social inclusion and solidarity Externally, we deliver on this commitment through our strong and long-standing partnership with associations like Toit à moi and Break Poverty, sponsorship initiatives and through our goal to promote and develop cooperation with businesses in the sheltered employment sector.
Internally, we believe in placing employees at the heart of our corporate strategy and culture. Encouraging their well-being and promoting diversity and equality are among our daily concerns; employee satisfaction and gender equality are assessed annually. Moreover, all staff are encouraged to take initiatives through participation in the company’s many cross-cutting and collaborative projects (ideas lab, Keran in-company school, innovation challenge).
Acting as a responsible and ethical company “Buying and spending more responsibly to help achieve a sustainable economy” is the guiding principle of this commitment, which is reflected in our creation of a responsible purchasing department. Our reflections on the ethical assessment of our projects and our involvement in the DRO and Ruptur networks (business networks promoting a responsible and sustainable economy for tomorrow’s regions) also highlight the ethical values that drive us.
Professional quality index
Gender quality is a central issue both for French government and at SCE. In this regard, the French law “for the freedom to choose one’s professional future” invites companies to calculate and publish an annual gender quality index, based on a score out of 100, to highlight the level of inequality between men and women within companies.
For 2020, SCE’s score was 89/100, based on the five criteria listed below:
Difference in pay: 39/40
Difference in individual pay rises: 20/20
Difference in promotions: 15/15
Pay rises in the year of return from maternity leave: 15/15
